Thorn announced winner of a National Sustainability Award 2025
We’re proud to share that Thorn was named winner of a National Sustainability Award this week.
Scooping the top prize in the 'Water Conservation' category, the win recognises the water saving initiatives that have been implemented at our Spennymoor factory. This includes:
- Northumbria Water partnership halved consumption; taps and flush sensors further reduced use.
- Rinse tank water is now reused in chemical tanks.
- Waste-reduction cut 130 tonnes through better material use, moulding scrap reuse, and gear tray innovation.
- 50% water reduction - aided by flow sensors, reuse pumps and conductivity monitoring.
