Enhancing Traffic Flow with Advanced Tunnel Lighting
The Marieholm Tunnel in Gothenburg is a crucial infrastructure project, forming part of the Marieholm connection that links key highways (E20, E6, E45, and Lundbyleden). The goal was to improve traffic flow and connectivity while minimising environmental impact in a high-traffic area. A major challenge was implementing a state-of-the-art lighting solution that ensures visibility, safety, and energy efficiency in one of Sweden’s most demanding tunnel environments.
Precision-Engineered LED Lighting for Optimal Visibility
Thorn Lighting provided the GTLED tunnel luminaire, designed specifically for highly corrosive and demanding environments. Counterbeam optics enhance visibility in entrance and transition zones, while a bi-symmetrical optic ensures seamless illumination in the tunnel’s inner sections. The system dynamically adjusts brightness from 200 cd/m² during the day to just 2.5 cd/m² at night, adapting to external daylight conditions for maximum safety and efficiency.
Long-Lasting Performance with Low Maintenance
GTLED is built for longevity, with an innovative stainless steel mounting system that withstands harsh conditions. The luminaire offers exceptional durability, minimising maintenance needs while providing consistent, glare-free illumination. Additionally, the discreet Fino linear luminaire from acdc enhances architectural aesthetics with soft, colored lighting. This lighting solution not only improves road safety but also sets a new benchmark for energy efficiency and sustainability in tunnel illumination.
